Human – a friend or enemy?

It is quite sad that with the development of human society the respect for nature and life in general disappears. Not long time ago I wrote about two Huntsmen who hunted down protected mammal and birds for taxidermy and illegal sale; the illegal poaching of migrating birds in southern European countries is somehow overlooked by the EU authorities and the famous migratory routes in Mexican Bay are now under great thread because of the immense oil spill from BP platform. I also have a few sad pictures that I brought from Florida – during bird photography in Sebastian Inlet State Park on eastern coast of Florida I noted one Brown Pelican with something quite big, glittering hanging from its beak – the fish-bait! In one part of the Park there is a fishing pier where tens fishers crowd every day and so is no wonder that people and birds compete with each other – and is quite clear who is winning and who is always beaten – the nature or the birds if you like. But I was really shocked to see the fishers even in those most important and protected sanctuaries in Florida – as an example J.N.D. Darling Nature reserve at Sanibel Island is one of the most important sanctuaries in Florida but fishing is allowed almost everywhere as long as the fishers remove all the stuck baits and tangled lines from the environment – the reality is a bit different – the tangled lines that are the worse trap for water birds are seen quite often in this reserve! Similar situation is on Welsh Skomer Island where many seabirds are dying in lost fishing nets and tangled lines.

Lets wish to the birds and to the nature to endure and survive our human frenzy – maybe one day the mankind will wake up and realize that protecting the nature is the only way to go.

    Ahoj Evzene, ja doufam, ze moderni spolecnost je natolik rozvinuta aby si vcas uvedomila, co vsechno muze ztratit pokud nezmeni lide sve uvazovani. Je to tezke v rozvojovych zemich ale v Evrope a USA by ochrana prirody mela byt samozrejmosti a hlavne na prvnim miste pred ekonomickymi zajmy...

    Smutný článek, Jirko. Nedávno jsem byla svědkem něčeho podobného... na poli jsme viděli srnce, který se divně motal. Při pohledu z blízka měl cosi namotané na parůžsích. Snažil se toho zbavit, mlátil hlavou, nabaloval si na parůžky ještě bahno, nakonec zkusil stáhnout břemeno předním během...a ten si zachytil. A tak zoufale skákal o třech, převracel se, motal a padl vysílený do podmáčené brázdy. Podařilo se nám ho zachytit, zklidnit a nakonec i vysvobodit.... byla to síťka od zeleniny... takový ten pytel, v němž se prodává cibuel nebo brambory... Pak jsme si všimli, že u sloupů v poli jsou prázdné bedýnky po výsadbě... asi tam zůstaly zbytky a srnec byl zvědavý a mlsný...a už to bylo... Stačila chvilka lidského nepřemýšlení....

    Ahoj Renko, to je skvele, ze se vam ho povedlo vysvobodit, jen me desi, kolik toho vlastne nevidime- pravdepodobne vime jen o par pripadech ale zda se mi, ze to bude jen spicka ledovce - napr. jen ti povedeni myslivci z Kladenska - kolik tech zvirat ulovili a kolik podobnych floutku u nas asi pusobi (a nejen u nas)??? Na internetu je v diskusich chovatelu domaciho ptactva celkem beznym jevem, ze se pouzivaji jestrabi kose (klec s navnadou pro dravce - chyceni, usmrceni???), ktere jsou ilegalni...vse je to jen o vychove - u nas jsou dravci skodna, jinde si jich ceni a chrani je, je to v nasi spolecnosti asi hluboce zakorenene.
